What
exactly does IPL mean? What's so great
about IPL and
Photorejuvenation?
IPL or Intense Pulsed
Light is a non-laser medical device that
delivers gentle pulses of visible light
to the skin. A series of treatments can
improve the skin's overall appearance
with no "down- time."
Photorejuvenation
is an innovative technique using Intense
Pulsed Light to treat the entire face,
leaving skin looking younger and feeling smooth.
The Advanced Skin and Laser
Center uses the Vasculight
system for all Intense Pulsed Light
treatments.
The Vasculight system is
FDA approved and counteracts sun damage,
eliminates unsightly veins, removes
unwanted hair, and treats Rosacea and
other pigmentation issues.

IPL vs
Laser - What's the Difference?
Laser skin resurfacing
uses a high-powered laser to burn off the
outermost skin layer. This treatment
requires a significant recovery period.
The skin is very sensitive as it recovers
over a period of weeks to months.
IPL photorejuvenation
uses different wavelengths of light to
target areas beneath the skin. Your outer
layer of skin remains virtually
untouched, and you are able to resume
your busy lifestyle immediately.

How
does the Vasculight system machine work?
The Intense Pulsed Light source (IPL) from the Vasculight machine
(pictured) penetrates the skin during a PhotoRejuvenation
treatment (also known as FotoFacial) and
causes damage to abnormally dilated blood
vessels, which cause over-pigmentation.
The culprits of many skin problems: the
abnormally enlarged blood vessels and
lesions are consumed by your body, and
the skin becomes more clear with each
treatment.
Intense Pulsed Light also
restores collagen, which produces an
anti-aging effect.
Unwanted hair is removed
permanently and quickly by the Intense
Pulsed Light source which destroys each
hair follicle.

Are
there any side-effects?
There are no wounds and
no real "downtime", so you could
even undergo treatment during your lunch
break. The treatment may leave your
face's imperfections a little more
noticeable for a few days, but this is
only a temporary side-effect of the
treatment process.

How
many treatments will I need?
Treatment length varies
from patient to patient, but one can
expect to have between four and six
treatments, each performed about every
three weeks. Follow-up treatments may be
necessary to correct new damage from the
sun or aging.

What
is treatment like? Is it painful?
A treatment session might
last as little as 10 minutes or as long
as 1 hour. The Intense Pulsed Energy
passes through the outer layer of skin,
leaving your outer skin virtually
untouched.
A pulse of Intense Pulsed
Energy may feel like the snap of a rubber
band on the skin. Usually people do not
find the pain very uncomfortable. Certain
procedures including applying a cool gel
and anesthetic cream to the skin
alleviate discomfort.
